About

Veggies Yard

Small yards, stubborn soil, ridiculous harvests.

Veggies Yard is a practical guide to small space vegetable gardening built for balconies, patios, fire escapes, raised beds, and anything short of a full backyard.Whether you’re just starting out growing vegetables at home or already deep into urban farming, you’re in the right yard.

Our Mission

Small yards, big harvests that’s the whole idea.

Not everyone has land to farm on; most of us are working with a balcony rail, a fire escape, a raised bed against a fence, or a single sunny windowsill. That’s exactly who Veggies Yard is built for. Our goal is to make small space vegetable gardening feel manageable: step-by-step, season-specific guidance on what to plant, when to plant it, and how to do it right the first time. We compare containers, grow bags, and raised beds; we test watering schedules and pest fixes; and we tell you plainly what works and what doesn’t so every attempt at growing vegetables at home, and every step into urban farming, has a real shot at becoming an actual harvest.

Who's behind this

If a tip only works in one very specific garden, it’s not a tip. It’s a story.

We’re a hands-on team of home gardeners who believe the best gardening advice comes from real experience, careful testing, and learning from failure. Over the past decade, we’ve grown through changing spaces, challenging conditions, countless seed packets, and notebooks filled with lessons. We test so-called “foolproof” methods across different setups before recommending them—sharing only practical, honest advice that has earned its place in the garden.

Real gardeners, testing real advice.

We’re a hands-on team of urban and home gardeners who believe good vegetable gardening advice comes from testing, not guesswork. Before anything gets published on Veggies Yard, we try it ourselves in containers, raised beds, and small in-ground plots, so what we share is proven, not just theory. Our aim is simple: help you succeed at growing vegetables at home, season after season.

We grow it ourselves first.

Nothing goes on the site until it's been tried in an actual container or bed here, not just read about somewhere else.

We write down what fails.

A method that works once isn't a method. If something flops in a different pot size or a wetter season, that goes in the post too.

We test across a few setups.

We try the same method in a container, a raised bed, and straight in the ground, because what works well in one setup doesn't always work the same way in another.

We go back and fix it.

Posts get updated when a season proves last year's advice wrong. Older advice doesn't just sit there uncorrected.
